One good thing that happened today so far: Liverpool continued its recent uncertain form with a 2-0 loss in the Champions League to Red Star Belgrade 2-0.

Starting on September 26 Liverpool lost to Chelsea in the league cup, drew at Chelsea three days later, lost to Napoli in the UCL on October 3, drew with City at Anfield on October 7, then had a shaky win at Town, the worst team in the Premier League so far. They then began smashing opponents again: 4-0 over Belgrade Oct. 24 and 4-1 over Cardiff, both at Anfield. But get away from Fenway and they have trouble: their next match was at Arsenal a 1-1 draw--no shame in that at all--and then today's "stunner" in Belgrade.

The word that repeatedly comes to mind when I think of Liverpool's performances for over a month now is "fragile." Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong. That feeling will resolve some more over the next three weeks. They play home to Fulham Sunday, are then at 'Arry the Elk Hornet November 24--Oh, I see. A gap of two weeks between November 11 and 24. That would mean...that thing whose name I cannot stand to say.--and at Paris November 28. If they thrash Fulham but drop points in the league to Watford and lose to PSG, yes, then I will be more confident thinking them fragile.
