What is to be done with Notre Dame in the future?
This is the second time they have gone undefeated recently, played for the national championship or, as here, made the College Football Playoff and both times they have gotten destroyed. They were deemed the best team in the country at the end of the 2012 season and played #2 Alabama. Got destroyed 42-14. It was 28-0 at the half. Six years later they are voted #3, play #2 Clemson and get destroyed. They play, always, one of the toughest, most national schedules in the country. You go undefeated through one of their schedules, how can they be so uncompetitive in these championship games? Going undefeated with their schedule, how could the committee keep them out of the playoff? But on this evidence now of twice in six years, how could you vote them in a third time?
