I sent some friends and family the Sanders video I posted here last night. I got this response which I publish here with permission. It is wise, reasoned, measured, and therefore compelling.
I believe in his sincerity and agree with free public college and universal health care. If we were running against Dole McCain Papa Bush etc I’d be voting for Bernie. But our country is literally at stake here. It may already be too late to restore civic institutions and trust. And Bernie can not win. As shown last time and last Super Tuesday. He doesn’t have the votes. We should have a revolution. We should overthrow citizens united and off shore tax shelters. But the army of voters simply isn’t there. I don’t even know Jews who will vote for him and he’s a Jew for goodness sakes. Right now dictatorship has to be stopped and ideology goes on hold. Even Lincoln suspended rights during the civil war because existence itself as a nation was at stake. I feel this is such a time.
