The oldest, longest-tenured Culturist on the team, Udonis Haslem saw his first action of the season, emphasis on action. With Pat Riley and Andy Elisburg looking on UD scored the first time he had the ball. Moments later he was fed and hit what he must have thought was a three from the corner but had a foot on the line. And then he got ejected. Dwight Howard pushed off under the Miami basket and UD went to the floor. He got up with a pissed wry smile on his face and went to the other end where he went jaw-to-jaw with the Dwightmare. UD then poked a finger in Howard’s face, made contact, no doubt about it. Absolutely uncalled for. Embarrassing. So in his first game of the season Udonis Haslem’s stat line: 4 points (2/2) 1 ‘bound and an ejection in three minutes on the court. The good, the good, and then the bad and the ugly.
Miami has now won four straight, seven of eight, eleven of fourteen and sit in sole possession of fifth place in the East, with an identical 39-31 record with New York but owning the tie-breaker, and 0.5 games out of fourth behind ATL. They are tied with Phila and Milwa for the hottest team in the conference over the last ten games.
If the season ended now the “Heat” would play the “Pigeons” in a 4/5 series. If they jump the “Pigeons” they will play them in a 4/5. They can’t go higher than fourth. If they fall to sixth they would open the ‘loffs against the “Male Deer.” Miami is the defending conference champions so obviously they ain’t skaed of nobody in the East. There is some, imo ill-placed, ill-graced, taunting, longing for another rematch with, and expected slaying of, the “Male Deer”. Careful what you wish for.
