Now that he is gone, there needs to be a reappraisal of the great, revered Bernard Bailyn and his most influential work, The Ideological Origins of the American Revolution. Ideological Origins worked a paradigm shift in Colonial studies. Through its acclaim and Professor Bailyn's numerous doctoral students it has become the new paradigm, and Ideological Origins is simply wrong.
