I find this odd. This is a featured news story.
"Hundreds Protest Woman's Death at Russian Maternity Hospital." I vacillated momentarily between that and the football story underneath, also from the New York Times and then clicked on the protests. It's a AP story via the Times. This is the entire article:
MAKHACHKALA, Russia — Hundreds of people, most of them women, have protested outside a maternity hospital in Russia's southern Dagestan region where a woman died after giving birth to twins.
The protesters blamed doctors for the death of the 34-year-old woman, who already had four older children.
Police spokeswoman Fatina Ubaidatova said on Thursday that an estimated 600 people took part in Wednesday's protest at the maternity hospital in the city of Khasavyurt and some threw stones at the building in anger. She said police then moved in to guard the building.
Investigators said they are looking into the death of the woman to determine whether criminal charges should be filed. She died on Friday, two days after delivering the twins by cesarean section.

Not a lot of deep depth there. Why was this written about by AP, picked up by the Times, featured on Google? I googled "Khasavyurt."
Cool.

That is the entire "history" of Khasavyurt.
I then googled "Khasavyurt protests." I didn't get anything relevant. I went back to Wikipedia's comprehensive entry.

Demographics[edit]
Ethnic groups (2010 census):[10]
Avars (30.7%)
Chechens (28.5%)
Kumyks (28.1%)
Dargins (4.1%)
Laks (3.3%)
Russians (2.3%)
Lezgins (1.6%)
Ethnic Rooskis are outnumbered there big time. Might that outnumbering be related to the second of the two total entries under Khasavyurt history in Wiks? Peut-être. So? So why this featured news article on protests in Khasavyurt over the death of the mother at the hospital. NO IDEA. I find that odd.
