Official Republicans don't know it, they are so stupid they may never know it, but Iowa just saved the Republican Party. Donald Trump is an embarrassment to this entire country but he is/was a danger to the GOP. If he had run the table, starting with a win tonight, and won the nomination, the Republican Party may have broken up. Michael Bloomberg may have run as an independent, somebody else may have run as an independent. And if no one ran as an independent the Trump-led Republican Party would have gotten crushed in November. Period there.
Trump is still going to win New Hampshire. Trump's lead there is too large for the result tonight to evaporate it completely. Trump will win New Hampshire. However tonight's results, plural there, put the wacko Trump-Cruz Axis into a death spiral and that should be viewed by Official Republicans as the equivalent of killing two bird brains with one stone for Ted Cruz would get murdered by Hillary Clinton, too. That's another period. Those two knuckleheads will fight for the current wacko 40%-50% of the GOP till they each kill the other dead. And bestriding that muck will stand, unsoiled but for the bottom of his shoes, Marco Rubio.
Rubio came close tonight! 27 to 24 to 23 is a remarkable showing for Marco Rubio. All three top finishers tonight are strong in the "SEC" primaries beyond New Hampshire and Rubio will inherit nearly every one of the sensible (relative term there) Republican supporters of the failed candidates-Bush, Christie, Lindsey Graham-and Rubio will have the backing of more Official Republicans (assumption there: got brains?). The result, I predict, as one can glean, is that Marco Rubio will be the Republican nominee and Marco Rubio will have a bettor's chance of beating Hillary Clinton in November.
