For years, maybe generations, I don't know, American leaders have pointed to their country as the instantiation of the stability that democracy brings to any country.
This election shows how fragile that stability is. I never would have thought that after 225 years of stable democratic politics that America's democracy could still be fragile. Yet, here we are. One demagogue, a foreign-influenced demagogue, and a foreign government actively helping him and ~40% of the American people are willfully undoing it all.
That is fragility. You can't have stability with fragility. A crystal vase centerpiece on a solid dining room table looks stable, but all it takes is one ill-mannered guest reaching across the table for the gravy tray and the crystal vase is not just moved, it is shattered.
