This is history.

The Champions League is an All-English final, Liverpool vs Spurs.
So too the the second-tier Europa League. Chelsea advances to the final with a 4-3 aggregate win over Eintracht. Arsenal advance to meet them after a 4-2 (7-3) aggregate demolition of Valencia.

The top two clubs in the English Premier League, separated by one lonely point, Manchester City and Liverpool, are unquestionably the best clubs in all of Europe this year. The league's fourth place club, Tottenham Hotspur, may yet (although I doubt it in the extreme) be crowned kings of all Europe. They eliminated league leaders and presumptive champions, City. Liverpool, second, came within millimeters in a lone seasonal loss to City of matching Arsenal 2003/04 as Invincibles. Third Chelsea and fifth Arsenal now play for the silver medal in Europa.

There has never been a league to equal the continental dominance and the transcendent excellence of its top clubs as this year's English Premier League.

Rule Britannia!
