Last call y’all! #6 LSU has defeated #9 Texas in Austin 45-38. SEC! SEC! SEC!
North Carolina—Mack Brown, you CAN go home again—is 2-0 with its second straight heart-stopping win of the season, 28-25 over the University of Miami Gardens. The “Gardeners” missed a 49-yarder in the last seconds that would have forced OT on Tobacco Road. UMG is 0-2 for the first time in a longgg time.
11:08 pm:
Schadenfreude, thou liveth on top of a barren rocky mountain in Tennessee. Final from the checkerboard rectangle, Brigham Young 29 Tennessee 26.
11:05 pm:
The coaching failures of Chip Kelly, Charlie Strong, and Willie Taggart, are inexplicable to me. Charlie Strong was one of the great coaches in America at Louisville, a major player in pigskin. He then got lured away to Texas. I was convinced, obviously the UT admins were convinced it was just onward and upward for Charlie. 6-7, 5-7, 5-7 and Charlie was gone. Landed on both feet, a little wobbly, but landed at a potential Louisville in South Florida. First year, 2017, 10-2! Go Charlie! Go Charlie! Hook 'Em Bulls! Last year, 7-0, 21st in the land, Go Charlie! Go Charlie! haslost8straightsince. How does that even happen?
Willie Taggart, not the sterling resume of Charlie Strong, Charlie's immediate predecessor at USF though. Willie's last year in Tampa was 11-2! That'll get 'em quackin'! And it did. The "Ducks" in Oregon came quackin' and hired Willie away. Comme ci comme ca in Eugene in one year, 7-5 in '17 and poof! Willie's gone. Gone home. Back to his Florida roots. FSU! FSU! FSU! FIVE-AND-SEVEN! Now 1-1. Charlie Strong has got to go and Willie Taggart, I've seen enough.
Chip Kelly. Chip Kelly spent four years at Oregon. These were his records:
10-3
12-1
12-2
12-1
:o Coached for the national championship in 2010. Chip, go directly to the NFL. You have passed your apprenticeship with flying colors. Flamed out in the NFL, flamed out. That happens! Going from college to the pros--or versa vice--you can go but that doesn't mean you're gonna git there. So after four years in the NFL, Chip gave it the ol' college try, he landed, are you kidding me, in Hollywood? In the same conference where he proved his nous? How perfect a situation is that?

At
All.
3-9 in his first semester back as a full-time prof and now oh-and-tyoo. Lost at Cincy, lost at home to San Diego State.
What is the lesson college AD's take from these three examples? Damned if they know. These were sure thing hires, absolutely home run gets. And they got got. Sad!
10:33 pm:
San Diego State beat UCLA 23-14. Chip Kelly, Pigskin Professor with an endowed chair, Oregon savant, has inexplicably lost his coaching nous.
Georgia Tech 14 South Florida 10. As has Charlie Strong. That is the eighth straight loss for USF
under Chaz dating back to last year. Last year!, last year the "Bulls" were 7-0 and ranked 21st in the
country. And then lost the remaining six and now the first two this year. Mebbe Charlie and Willie can switch chairs.
North Carolina leads Miami Gardens 20-13, 6' left 3Q. Ol' Mack Brown! Ol' Take-a-Knee Mack! Gittin' it done mebbee. Still plenty of time obv but Manny Diaz' "Gardeners” could reasonably be 0-2 in an hour or so, the first time that will have happened since 1978 or something like that there.
The barn is burning in Awestin! #6 LSU leads #9 Texas 23-21 end 3Q in a humdinger sounds like, don't know but sounds like.
BYWHO and Tennessee are in OT on Rocky Top and the "Fighting Mormons" scored first and lead 23-16.
Jawja State, "Vols" betters last week are hangin' on ginst Fullham 48-42, 2:18 left.
Updates comin'! Go "Tar Heels"!, Go BYWHO!
