There are two problems here:
Bloomberg reported in June that the Clinton Foundation was breached by Russian hackers. “The Russians may also have acquired the emails that Hillary Clinton sent as secretary of State. Putin might be holding back explosive material until October, when its release could ensure a Trump victory,” it reported.
The first is the Russian illegal activity. The second is the substance of the emails. This apparently is what Trump was referring to last week when he told the Russians to get the emails. If there is "explosive material" in Secretary Clinton's emails then, if it is legal to do so, she should make them public now, in August, not wait for an "October surprise" from Trumputin "that could ensure a Trump victory." "If it is legal:" If the emails are classified then Clinton cannot release them.
Presumably there is not going to be any denying the substance of the emails, i.e. their authenticity, that Clinton wrote them, and if that is the case it is no political defense to authentic content that the emails were acquired illegally. Trumputin are rigging this election.
