Weirdly I cannot find the Cathedral of Leaning top lit with gold "Victory Lights" tonight. I have found the "new" Pitt "Victory Lights" with a blue laser shooting out the top of the Cathedral. Whatever Pitt does I'm for but if I had my way I wouldn't have added a blue stream of electron particles escaping from the top of Cathy as it were a black hole. But, it's fine.
How can you not go to a school that has the Cathedral of Learning?
But not everybody does. Hey, go to PSU and milk cows instead. Visit the historical Lasch Pedophilia Center. I'm sure it's inspiring for a certain type.
The "Lakers" have scored 21 in the second half and are putting hickies all over the "Hokies" 38-16 with 6:44 left to play.
I stink that is gonna be it for moi tonight-o. Good night all yinz yinzers and H2P.
10:57 p.m.
"Allegedly" "#6" "Notre Dame" "du lac" leads #24 Virginia Tech 17-16 start 3Q.
#3 Ohio State pulled away from now 4-2 Indiana in 'Umbus. Injuns were fairly close until two OSU TD's in the 4th.
#22 FU beat #5 LSU in the Morass. Big win for Alligator man Jim McElwain.
KU lost to #9 WVU 38-22 in Couch Burn.
#15 Mich doubled up Mary 42-21 in Ann.
OH! Mark Richt DID come back. #17 Miami beat FSU 28-27 in the Gardens!
Northwestern beat #20 Michigan State 29-19 in Lansing.
The UNDEF...Colorado is undefeated? :o Yes, they are and they remained undefeated by edging the Herm Edwards' 28-21 in Big Rock.
IOWA STATE! The "Cyclops" hung on to beat dem #25 Boone Pickenses 48-42 in the Boonies.
In "Other Eastern" Memphis State hung a double nickle on the "Poodles" of UConn 55-14 in FedExton. Randy Edsel's team's scores this year so far:
17-56
7-62
56-49 (over a "Championship" side)
21-51
7-49
14-55
The fewest they've given up in a game is seven TD's.
5:47 p.m.
Iowa STATE (1-3) is beating #25 Oklahoma State (4-1) 23-13 where the waters are still...Nevermind, 23-21 now 2 1/2 left before halftime.
VICTORY LIGHTS TIME! PITT WINS! My beloved "Panthers" beat the "Orangemen" of Syracuse 44-37 in OT in the Ketchup Bottle (where I am quite certain there was more ketchup than peoplez). Pitt moves to 3-3, Syr falls to 4-2. They were undefeated until last week, a heartbreaking 23-20 loss at #3 Clemson. They had shut out Half Ass U previously. No doubt a "hangover" game for Syr although they started out clearheaded enough, got up 14-0 on Pitt.
This is a HUGE win for Pitt who do not have a lot of talent this year. They lost a lot last year. And they were 5-7 last year! You lose a lot of talent from a 5-7 team and well, you get beat this year 51-6 and 45-14.
Play a bear of a schedule, the "Panthers" do. #11 PSU, #12 UCF, they have games at #6 Notre Dame and at #17 Miam-uh with #24 Va Tech in between at Heinz. Five of twelve opponents in the top 25. Toughest schedule in the country, I think. And then they have games like this one. In recent years Syracuse you could pencil in as a Pitt win but as indicated above Syracuse is on (or were) on the upswing this year. I really didn't think Pitt would win this game. Like North Carolina. Pitt just cannot beat the "Blackfeet." Not when Pitt is good-ish, not when Pitt is bad-ish.
After successive 8-5 seasons under Pat Narduzzi in his first two years (playing with players recruited by Paul Chryst) including huge wins in 2016 over PSU and at #3 Clemson and even last year over #2 Miami, Pitt slumped to 5-7 last year. Where are they going to get any other wins this year? Home to Duke maybe, MAYBE, at Wake Forest, home to Virginia. That's it. So today's win was HUGE but it looks extremely likely that the best Pat Narduzzi can do in his fourth year at Pitt is 6-6. IF that happens that is one tick up from last year. The trend line from year one to year four is still down, however.
Demonstrably Pat Narduzzi has not kept up with the Joneses, more specifically the Pedophiles and the Boogers. James Franklin has done an OUTSTANDING job at PSU. 7-6 his first two years Queen James led them to 11-3, 11-2 and has them 4-1 this year. That is an upward trend. From losing to Pitt (barely) in 2016 Franklin destroyed Pitt the next two years, 33-14 and 51-6.
James Franklin has schooled Pat Narduzzi in recruiting. It seems to me that Pitt has been bleeding talent without adequate replacement over Pat's four years. His first three years, if I am not mistaken, Pat went the graduate transfer route to man the quarterback position. It was Rent-a-QB. One and done. This year is the first time that there has been something that can charitably be called continuity. Kenny Pickett, a true freshman, came on in the Miami game last year and led the "Panthers" to victory. A savior! No more Rent-a-QB! AP's writer on the Pitt-Syracuse came was unusually pointed:
..after Pitt fell behind 37-34 with 5:53 to go [t]he Panthers snapped the ball 13 times on their next possession. Eleven times quarterback Kenny Pickett gave it to Hall or Ollison.
Hall and Ollison are running backs, senior running backs. Next year Pat Narduzzi will have to get replacements for them. Will he?
The Panthers might want to just go to the triple-option and get it over with. The passing game remains practically nonexistent. Quarterback Kenny Pickett completed 11 of 20 passes for 137 yards with a touchdown, pick and a fumble.
Compare Narduzzi to Chryst. Started coaching their current teams the same year. Pitt was 6-6 the year before Chryst took over. He went 7-6 and 6-6 in his two seasons at Pitt. Wisconsin was 11-3 the year before Chryst took over there. He has gone 10-3, 11-3, 13-1, and is 3-1 this year. See? That's "steady," steady excellence. Pitt was 6-7 the year before Narduzzi became head coach. Took 'em to 8-5 the next two years, 5-7 last year, 3-3 so far this year. At best that is a shaky steady.
What has been so surprising about Narduzzi's Pitt teams is their offensive defenses. Pat Narduzzi had a national reputation as a defensive stalwart as a coordinator at Michigan State. His Pitt defenses have graded middling to Oh-God-I-can't-look. No lead is safe!
Anyway...
Iowa State continues to lead Okie State, it's now 37-28, 11' left 3Q.
And the afore-mentioned Half Ass U lead 20-7 at Miami (actually Miami Gardens). Current 'Cane head Mark Richt was for years and years a coordinator at FSU. Miami is 4-1 and #17, FSU 3-2 and unranked. Be a good idea for Mark to lead a second half comeback in this one. Be a really good idea for Mark to do that.
4:04 p.m.
Syracuse scored again to lead Pitt 31-27 and now the "Panthers" fumbled and the 'Cuse has it right back again. 13:30 left 4Q.
3:47 p.m. NPT
Oklahoma outscored Texas 21-0 through 14:51 of the 4Q to tie it at 45 but TEXAS just kicked a field goal and leads 48-45. Sure it's over now, lemme check...No, it's not...Now it is. Texas has upset #7 Oklahoma 48-45. HUGE win for coach Tom Herman who has now won four straight.
Northwestern upset #20 Michigan State in East Lansing 29-19.
Syracuse has scored and it's 27-24 Pitt ~6' left 3Q.
Rutgers...Ho-ho-ho Rutgers. Rutgers lost (again) at home (again) to Illinoise 38-17.

The rain came down so hard and so fast, refs at the Syracuse-Pitt game cleared Heinz Field for more than an hour.
?
Rain? Just rain? Never heard of a game being delayed for just rain. Lightening and rain, yeah. Lightening and anything, yeah. Supposed to resume at 3:25.
2:19 p.m.
And now it's 27-17 Pitt. Syracuse took the game's opening kickoff and went 75 yards in five plays to lead 7-0.
Pitt got the ball and five plays later Shocky Jacques-Louis (Oh my God, Shocky Jacques-Louis is my new favorite name) FUMBLED. Shocky Jacques-Louis fumbled (He's not my favorite player.). Syracuse then scored to go up 14-0. Three possessions, two Syracuse TD's and a "Panther" fumble.
Since then it's been 27-3 "Panthers." LET'S GO PITT!
2:11 p.m.
Texas is up 30-17 on the "Sooners" with 10 and 1/2 left 3Q. Hook 'em Horns!
Pitt leads Syracuse at thehalf start of the third.
12:33 p.m.
21-0 Alabama with 5:38 still to play in the 1Q. Ooh.
OU took the opening kick and marched straight down the field and scored to lead 7-0. Bad sign for UT.
UT then took the kickoff and marched straight down the field and scored to tie it 7-7. GOOD sign for UT.
Texas now leads 10-7 on a FG after an OU INT. 5:58 left 1Q.
12:08 p.m.
It's mid-term exam time! The Red River Showdown feels more like finals. #19 Texas, doing very well since losing to Mary in the first game, play #7 Oklahoma in Big D. OU has looked shaky at times through five games. I think UT is going to win that game.
Holy hell, #1 'Bama is up 7-0 on Arkansas after 21 seconds. Either ran the damn kick back or scored on the first play of the game.
I think Pitt plays the New England "Patriots" today I said I think.
