112-115

That’s Miami’s composite record with the present core group of players assembled by Pat Riley, i.e over two full seasons plus 70% of this season, a .495 winning percentage. So that’s pretty pathetic. But wait it gets worse.

The first season 2016/17 was the miraculous 41-41, two halves that were 11-30/30-11 mirror images of each other. The next full season, last season, saw a little improvement of three games. Not much but improvement, to 44-38, a .537 win percentage.

But this season, oy vey. Through 70% of the schedule the “Heat” are winning at only .456. That projects to 37 wins over 82 games. Down six wins from last season and four off the 41-41 2016/17 season. It would be the lowest win percentage since the season, 2014/15, after LeBron left.

In other words “continuity” has made the “Heat” WORSE.

Look, there is no way around this: Pat Riley has completely botched the “Heat’s” rebuilding post-LeBron, and the lavish, long-term contracts he saddled the franchise with to maintain “continuity” have made the “Heat” outlook for the next few years more more “bleak” than just about any other team in the league.
