When I first heard this I was in my car. It was just a segment, one of NPR's brief musical interludes. "What is that?," I think I asked myself aloud. It was so familiar yet. After NPR went back to Bob Edwards or whomever I turned the radio off and hummed from memory more of the piece so I could remember. "The Goldberg Variations! But..." The Goldberg Variations are almost always played on piano as Glenn Gould did most famously. This was strings. The Sitkovetsky variation on The Goldberg Variations.

A miracle. To my ear, better than on piano.
