Goran Dragic the clear game-ball winner for Miami tonight, 29 points in 30' ("efficient"), 13 assists and 3 rebounds.
Bam had another Bam game but wasdecisively outplayed by former teammate Hassan Whiteside. In 32' Hassan had 21 points, 18 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 turnover. Bam, 36', 20 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, 1 block, 3 turnovers....Well, I say that and then I look at all the other things Bam did, the assists, the steal, one block himself--that's what Spo wanted from Hassan, a complete player, not just a glass sweeper...Okay, take out "decisively."
This is a stat that puts it all in perspective and will warm Spo's heart. Despite Hassan's monster 18 boards the "Heat" team out-rebounded the "Blazers" 47-40. In positionless basketball everybody has got to do a little of everything: score a little, defend, rebound, pass, be a threat from range.
Duncan Robinson had a putrid night shooting (2/11) but...he played Spo ball, when your main thing isn't happening, do something else to help the team win and Duncan had 7 rebounds.
After having 10 points in 11' Kendrick tailed off, only played 28', finished with 14 points, 5/13 (1/5) but played positionless, 5 assists.
Meyers Leonard only played 23' after a hot start and but contributed all around, 11, 9, and 3.
JJ had a real good first game back in a long while: 22', 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocks (!).
This is a stat that will upset Spo--and Jimmy: Portland shot 46%; that is really good; really bad D by Miami. The "Heat" won it--ball don't lie-- by shooting 52%. God, please keep Jimmy and Spo from going Trump on the guys with another four hour practice.
