COVID-19 WEEK ENDING 8/15

From Johns Hopkins:

130,710 cases average/day.
696 deaths average/day.

The Afghan evacuation has taken my mind off COVID. Do you know how many combat deaths the U.S. had in twenty years in Afghanistan?

1,833 U.S. cumulative combat deaths Afghanistan 2001-July 19,2021, twenty years.
1,889 U.S. COVID deaths in one day.on 8/13/2021. More COVID deaths in one day than the cumulative combat deaths in Afghanistan in twenty years.
2,218 U.S. combat deaths in Afghanistan plus "other" 2001-July 19, 2021.
2,503 U.S. Covid deaths on August 12, 2021 and August 13 combined. More COVID deaths in two days than all death is Afghanistan in twenty years.
20,093 total wounded in twenty years in Afghanistan.
21,674 U.S. Covid hospitalizations July 12, 2021. More hospitalizations in one day than cumulative wounded in Afghanistan in twenty years.

I feel better about the Afghan war having refreshed on the COVID horror.
