Something Might Be Happening

Teacher Shen's essay is still up.

Then there was this from an April 17 op-ed in the Formerly Quasi Official New York Times:

Most observers forget that North Korea’s nuclear arsenal is aimed at China as well as the United States and its allies.

:o Really? Aimed at China? Some observers of the idiot blogger persuasion never knew. China does not like to be encircled, now!

Around the same time was the change in Chinese tone noted by idiots and 38northers both.

Then this very early today (normal people time):

(CNN)China may be getting fed up with continued nuclear bluster from long-time ally North Korea and tilting toward the United States.
...
[Chinese] spokesman Lu Kang praised recent US statements on the North Korean issue.

"American officials did make some positive and constructive remarks... such as using whatever peaceful means possible to resolve the (Korean) Peninsula nuclear issue. This represents a general direction that we believe is correct and should be adhered to," Lu said.

LUUUUU!

NOW, just within the last hour or so, THIS:

US official: With eye on North Korea, China puts bombers on 'high alert'

(CNN)Chinese air force land-attack, cruise-missile-capable bombers were put "on high alert" on Wednesday as the US sees evidence that the Chinese military is preparing to respond to a potential situation in North Korea, a US defense official tells CNN.

The official said the US has also seen an extraordinary number of Chinese military aircraft being brought up to full readiness through intensified maintenance.

These recent steps by the Chinese are assessed as part of an effort to "reduce the time to reacte to a North Korea contingency," the official said

But then, there is this:

"Nobody thinks the Chinese are going to press North Korea militarily or bring the regime to its knees, but the strategy looks to China to find a political solution more than anything else," one senior administration official said.

Well, what the fuck are they doing if not "pressing North Korea militarily"?! They're damn well pressing SOMEONE militarily and it doesn't seem in context it would be the U.S. and South Korea.

The gestalt key shift here is the DPRK's nukes being aimed at China, too. Combine that gem with Chinese fear of encirclement, and good shift happens! If China, rather than the U.S., prevents another DPRK nuclear or missile test, then China will have prevented their encirclement. Instead, they will have encircled from the west, with South Korea to the south and America to the east, the DPRK, the last remaining loop in their feared Magic Kingdom East of Japan, Taiwan and a unified, Americanized Korea. That loop will be kept forever open, as will un's asshole for China's personal use and abuse, for China will then own un, they will make un their bitch and they will get to keep Kim Enterprises racist, dwarf Hermit Kingdom for their very own.

This is an extraordinary moment.
