Chicago Cop Convicted of Murder-2 In On-Duty Killing of 17 year-old Laquan McDonald

Former CPD officer Jason Van Dyke fired 16 times at 17 year-old McDonald. The jury also convicted him of 16 counts of aggravated battery. The murder happened October 20, 2014 and was captured on Van Dyke's dash cam.

Van Dyke is the first Chicago cop to be convicted of an on-duty killing in 50 years. He faces a minimum of 6 years in prison...Whoa, 6 years for Murder-2 and 16 counts of Agg. Batt? Illinois sentencing guidelines are lenient! God damn. That would be about 40 years (ball park) I reckon in the jurisdiction where I reckon. That is shocking. I am boggled.

Congratulations to the prosecutor, may God keep the soul of Laquan McDonald and give some comfort to his family. Condolences to the defense attorney and to Jason Van Dyke. Mr. Van Dyke, several times I went up to defendants I had just convicted, shook their hands and hugged them if I was permitted and whispered to them, "Your life is not over." I do the same to you now through virtual space.
