Can Adam Silver Force Dan Gilbert to Sell the "Cavaliers"? No.

Since Dan Gilbert has owned the team and when they have not had LeBron James Cleveland "Cavaliers" have finished:

-29th in the league (out of 30 teams)
-tied for 28th
-28th
-21st
-30th this season just past the halfway mark.

They have had six head coaches (one twice) and four general managers in the 13 years of Gilbert's ownership.

Koby Altman has been the GM for a little less than 18 months. In August 2017 Altman traded Kyrie Irving to Boston for Ante Zizic, Jae Crowder, and Isaiah Thomas: nasty, brutish and short. In September 2017 Altman signed Dwyane Wade. In February 2018 Altman traded Crowder and Wade, who had been with the club for six and five months respectively, along with Channing Frye, Derrick Rose and Iman Shumpert for Rodney Hood, George Hill, Jordan Clarkson, and Larry Nance Jr. In the summer of 2018 Cleveland was swept by Golden State in the NBA Finals after which LeBron James took his talents to SoCal.

In short, the 2018-19 "Cavaliers" have been solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and Gilbert, just as the previous four LeBron-less seasons were. This team could not be more a Dan Gilbert production directed by Koby Altman. It has won 8 of 43 games, 18.2%. It has lost 12 games in a row. The highest percentage of games Cleveland has won under Gilbert sans LBJ is 40.2. The other years it was 29.3%, 31.8% and 23.2%.

LeBron is not Coming Home II so the Cleveland "Cavaliers," one of Adam Silver's thirty business franchises is ruined completely and in perpetuity because of that man, Dan Gilbert, and there is nothing the league's commissioner can do about it.
