America's relationship with China and President Obama's relationship with Paramount Leader Xi Jinping, like many of America's foreign relations and like Obama's personal relations with many foreign leaders...is not the best. There is a wariness that China has toward the U.S. that one can see in the body language of Chinese officials, Xi, and the Chinese ambassador to the U.N. are two in particular that I can see in my mind's eye.The Obama puzzle again, but no more on that at this moment. China's actions have followed the words spoken by their leaders' bodies', they have, shockingly, moved closer to Russia, farther away from the once far more simpatico relationship with the U.S. I cannot say that I saw real warmth between former ambassador Li Baodong and Vitaly Churkin at the U.N. However, their actions spoke loudly and clearly. Still it would have been no surprise if China were looking for a new soecial relationship to take the place of that with the U.S. and had found Russia wanting and it is no surprise that they were looking and have found a new dance partner: Great Britain.
Mr. Xi has come to London, and will go to Manchester where he, a soccer follower, will meet and dine with Manchester City officials. Xi comes bearing gifts and is receiving the full monty in welcomes as only British royalty can welcome. Their is more optimism in Xi's statements about his visit to Britain than ever I heard about a meeting with President Obama. Godspeed to China and to Britain (and to God's Righteous Team of Angels in Blue. )
