There has been this kerfuffle going on among the Republican presidential candidates for a while now. It goes like this: Somebody asks Jeb! if he would have invaded Iraq as his bro did, Jeb! says yes, maybe, no, and finally settles on le mot juste, "He kept us safe," i.e. Dubya. To which Donald Trump has taken to saying lately, "911 HAPPENED ON HIS WATCH!," i.e. Dubya's, implying that 9/11 was Dubya's fault. Trump has said more but that is his le mot juste.
Now see here, Dubya is not to blame for 9/11 but Dubya did not prevent 9/11, 2,997 were killed on 9/11, they were killed during Dubya's presidency-"On his watch."-and therefore Dubya did not "keep us safe," at least not 2,997 of us, and Jeb!, if he stays in the race much longer, and he may not, he inherited his family's penchant for le mauvais mot, needs to try another mot, Take Five.
