I met an extraordinary man New Year’s Eve. A psychiatrist, brilliant of mind, peripatetic of manner, , unaffected of personality, eccentric, with wedge-like angular face, intelligent, concentrating eyes and jet black hair. He was a hidden gem, referred me by my late psychiatrist, but had a modest practice wholly out of synchronization with his abilities. After our first informal meeting I was so impressed that I asked him for his business card so that I might refer friends to him. He had no business cards and wrote his name and contact information on a piece of paper that he tore from a page that had other writing on it.
I met this singular individual shortly after 2:25 a.m. and when I next awoke at 4:37 he was gone forever, to my chagrin.
