Ah, inappropriate thing to do given today's events, however I'm inappropriate. Last post of the night returns us to where we began the day, in the toy department.
Congratulations to Charlie Strong, the University of Texas, and the Longhorn Nation. Texas beat archrival and 10th ranked Oklahoma today. No sweeter victory ever for UT than one over the "Laters."
Baylor laid half a hundred on Kansas by half-time but pulled up in the second half, good sportsmanship there by Baylor, and "only" beat KU 66-7.
Notre Dame scored more points than Navy...but the game was played on land.
Tennessee laid more hurt on good guy Mark Richt of Georgia.
Iowa beat Illinois by nine, but did not cover the point spread, which a certain idiot blogger predicted they would not.
The University of Florida has just closed out their game against Missouri with another win. The "Alligators" were 11th ranked coming into the game and will be a bit higher, deservedly, when the new rankings come out. UF got a keeper there in Coach Jim McElwain.
Florida State leads Miami (Florida) by 3 heading into the final quarter.
Continuing the crime blotter, Rutgers trails Michigan State by only three a couple minutes into the final quarter. Michigan State: HAD best not lose this game.
Michigan, #18, destroyed #13 Northwestern 38-0. UM's gotta helluva coach in Jim Harbaugh.
My goodness gracious, all three Pennsylvania football playing schools won again, running their combined record to 14-2. None are ranked in the top 25 nationally. The Showers beat Indiana, which is nothing, Temple crushed Tulane, which is nothing, but the "Owls" are unbeaten and should squeak into the next edition of the top 25. Pittsburgh held on to beat a woeful Virginia team, are 4-1 for the first time in six years but have played only one good team, Iowa, and lost that one, however on a 57 yard field goal as time expired in Iowa City. Unquestionably, first year coach Pat Narduzzi has made a difference. Looks like Pitt has finally found a coach.
It was the Owl Bowl in Boca Raton, Florida and the "Why does Rice play Texas" "Owls" beat the Florida Atlantic "Owls" 27-26. Does Rice play Temple?
Oh, poor fauxpelini. A last second field goal and Wisconsin beat his beloved "Cornshuckers" 23-21. Nebraska is now 2-4.
The University of Nike lost again...Pardon me while I have an orgasm...this time to the Washington State "Apples."
Oh, one more. The Ohio State Non-University, numero uno in the land, beat Maryland. No great accomplishment there but "informed sources," tons of 'em, actually, have reported all week that that was Maryland Professor Randy Edsall's last game coaching the "Turtles." Coach Edsall is not a nice man, it has never seemed to me.
God keep the families in today's killings, and the souls of those killed. Later.
