Here’s where we stand at 5 p.m. on the day Congress was supposed to certify the results from a clean election with a clear victory: Congress has suspended that certification with no word from its leaders on when that process might resume as law enforcement continues to struggle to get control of the pro-Trump mob that – galvanized by Trump’s false allegations of voter fraud – stormed the Capitol. They are still at the Capitol as darkness falls and law enforcement agents amass nearby, an hour before a curfew in the city takes effect. Elected congressional leaders are trying to do interviews from “secure locations.” That’s where we stand.
That’s not a good place to stand.
