Song Binbin's Apology Rejected.

Mr. Wang Jinyao, Bian Zhongyun's widower (who the undersigned interviewed (for three days) in 2008)), has issued the following statement. This is from China Digital Times, via Dr. Weimin Mo, who I thank for the translation as it forestalls me committing terrorist acts against Google Translate.

Song Binbin’s Apology Rejected by Bian Zhongyun’s Husband
“Without Truth, No Reconciliation”

Song Binbin’s apology was rejected by 93-year-old Wang Jingrao, Bian’s husband. Over the past decades, he has been accusing Song Binbin and some others of their attempt to cover up their role in the death of Bian, which occurred on August 5, 1966.
Bian’s husband said Song and some others have never directly apologized to him. He only got the news about the apology through media. Wang was quoted saying, “She is an evil person because of all the things she did. She and some others were supported by Mao Zedong, who was the source of all the crimes. He committed so many atrocities. It by no means was a personal matter… the whole Communist Party and Mao should be held responsible.”
Seven years ago, the glamorous anniversary celebration of the school failed to muffle Bian’s husband’s outcry and condemnation of the murderers. Wang, upon hearing that the school selected Song Binbin to be included in the list of school’s celebrity alumnus, issued a declaration of three points which was widely read on internet but never mentioned in official media:
First, On August 5, 1966, the Red Guards of the then Girls’ School of Beijing Normal University tortured, in broad daylight, Comrade Bian Zhongyun to death. Those merciless murderers beat up Bian with clubs of sharp nails, whipped her with military belts with a heavy metal buckle attached, and kicked her with military boots, for hours. The whole process was unspeakably brutal. The current school authorities, regardless of unmistaken opposition from people who knew the truth, insisted such honor of “celebrity alumnus be converted to Song Binbin. For that reason, I must protest strongly.
Second, the current school authorities have openly violated the conclusion made by the Central Committee of Chines Communist Party on the Cultural Revolution by bragging Song’s activities and the 8/18 Incident as glorious achievements. That seriously hurts victims of the Cultural Revolution and their families a second time. That blasphemes the history. The kind of outrageous behaviors are dangerous signals for openly inviting the Cultural Revolution to come back. It should have alerted the party and the people nationwide.
Third, I demand that the school authorities reasonably handle the issue by revoking the honorable title of celebrity alumnus and report how they handled the issue to all alumni at home and abroad as well as to the faculty and students currently in school. They also must organize a serious discussion among faculty/staff and students on campus, especially the young students, on the decision the Central Committee of CPC made on the Cultural Revolution so that the young students clearly understand the humongous disasters the Cultural Revolution has cause our nation and people.
