Democratic theory takes another gut punch from democratic reality. DeSantis wanted to be governor, Trump president, not to perform public service, but for private gain, including the honor which goes with being a political chief executive. It's all about reelection for them, and for many others. And if you have to commit crimes to get reelected, you gotta do what you gotta do.
