"Lindsey Must Go!"

The Senate race in South Carolina is between redoubtable incumbent Lindsey Graham and black Jaime Harrison, Chair of the state Democratic Party. The emphasis on race there is deliberate for nothing matters more in South Carolina. Graham will beat Harrison because that is what white men do to black men in South Carolina but this black man is fighting back hard and Graham knows it. Two respected political sounders moved the race from Graham-lock to Graham-lean.

Graham is not the man we thought he was. Once one of the endearing "Three Amigos" he changed into a Friend of Trump without blinking. "You know, I don’t know what has happened to Lindsey Graham," said a number of people to Harrison after a campaign event in a county that went 61% for Trump. And Graham changed with the arrogance of the plantation master. “Lindsey Graham has done both the impossible and the unthinkable: He went from being the late John McCain’s best friend to Donald Trump’s best friend,” said Jimmy Williams, senior adviser to LindseyMustGoPAC. “We’re simply tired of [it]..." “Here’s a guy that many of us had tremendous respect for. Because when John McCain was alive, we thought in the end of the day he would do the right thing for either the state or the nation..."-Jaime Harrison.

There has never been a price tag for hypocrisy that sticks to slave drivers. "Uppity" blacks have no right. Jaime Harrison is a man and Jaime Harrison has stood up and dares to pin the price tag on the donkey. “But what we have now seen is that this guy’s only interest is in Lindsey O. Graham. His only interest is being in the middle of things, to have power.” Jaime Harrison again but the words are accurate paraphrase of what Graham has said himself.

Harrison is trying to fix the price of hypocrisy to Graham with a strategy that others are using with Trump himself: using his own words against him.

“Lindsey Must Go,” [an] ad, spends 81 seconds pummeling Graham with his greatest hits against and then for Trump. For instance, in one breath, you hear Graham moan in a 2015 interview, "Every time I turn around I’m being asked about Donald Trump saying one dumb thing or another. And I’m tired of it." The ad speaks Graham's words in the language of Graham, and of South Carolina. Then, in the next clip from a 2018 interview, you watch Graham earnestly say, "President Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize and then some."

Graham will win this election. This is, after all, South Carolina, but a brave black man is tired of it all and has stood up.

That "Lindsey Must Go" ad makes the case better than anyone else could — especially since Graham does all the talking.
